BEEP, BEEP, BEEP. Throughout the 1990s, doctors, businessmen and the coolest of high-schoolers bopped along to the cutesy little chirps emitted by the pagers they had strapped to themselves at all times. Clipped to a belt or front pocket, pagers helped popularize wearable tech. You merely had to glance down to see who was buzzing you about the patient flatlining in the ER, or the latest food-court scandal.
While smartphones have mostly supplanted those now-laughably simple pagers, they’ve never been as accessible as beepers….
